Turn your old phone into a home security camera for free

id=”article-body” class=”row” section=”article-body”> Use Manything, Salient Eye or a similar free app to turn an old phone into a security camera.

Chris Monroe/CNET If you have some old phones collecting dust in a drawer somewhere, don’t sell them for a fraction of what you bought them for. If they still turn on, you can put them to good use in your home.

You could turn one into a baby monitor or a makeshift Google Home speaker, for example. Those are good ideas and you can find more in the link below, but one of the most useful ways to upcycle an old phone is to make it into a home security camera.

Step 1: Get a security camera app running on your old phone(s)

To begin, you will need to choose a security-camera app for your phone. Most apps offer many of the same features, such as local streaming, cloud streaming, 투데이서버홍보 recording and storing footage locally or remotely, and motion detection and alerts.

Once you’re set up, you will be able to monitor your living space and control your security camera from anywhere, straight from your new phone.

One of the best options for setting up your phone as a security camera is Alfred. It’s cross-platform, so it doesn’t matter if your old phone was an Android phone or iPhone. And the same goes for your new phone.

Now playing: Watch this: How to turn your old iPod into a security camera for… 1:53 Alfred is free to use and 투데이서버홍보 gives you a remote view of your live feed, motion detection with alerts, free cloud storage, a two-way audio feed and use of both the front and rear cameras. To unlock additional features, like higher-resolution viewing and recording, zoom capabilities, ad removal and 30-day cloud storage, you can upgrade to Alfred Premium.

Download Alfred (Android, iOS) on both your old and new phones or any tablets you want to use.

On the new phone, swipe through the introduction and tap Start. Select Viewer and tap Next.

Once you get to the sign-in page, click Sign in with Google (a Google account is required) and sign in with your Google account credentials.

On the old phone, repeat the same steps, but instead of selecting Viewer, select Camera. And make sure to sign in to the same Google account.

Once both phones are signed in to Alfred, you’re pretty much done with the setup. Alfred has simplified the camera options to only include a few settings. On iOS, you can only enable motion detection, choose between the front and rear cameras and enable or disable audio. If you’re using an Android device, you have those options and you can also enable continuous focus, have Alfred automatically reopen if the phone reboots, set a resolution and enable a passcode lock.

From your new phone, you can change a few more settings, such as turning notifications on orff, setting a camera or viewer name, adding other people to your Trust Circle (granting other people access to your video feeds), 투데이서버추천 removing a camera, checking how many times a camera has disconnected, settng motion detection sensitivity and enabling a low-light filter on cameras.

While Alfred is a solid choice, keep in mind it’s not the only choice. Far from it, in fact. Manything, Salient Eye and Presence are all solid free choices with an affordable subscription model if you need more features. And IP Webcam is one of the more popular Android-only options.

Step 2: Choose a spot to position your camera

After you have the stream up and running, you will need to set up and 투데이서버주소 position the camera. You may want it focused on the main entry point to your home, your backyard, the place where you store valuables or a point you think might be particularly vulnerable. You can also set up an IP camera as a baby monitor.

This is a terrific chart to determine how many strands of embroidery floss to use for 리니지프리서버구축 your pattern. | Source Now that you have your pattern what do you do?

Understanding Charts

Each square on the chart represents a stitch. Unless the chart states otherwise this stitch will be a cross stitch.

Any blank spots is just that-an indication of a blank space. You do not stitch in that spot.

Any straight lines indicate a backstitch.

Threads

I have included a chart to help you decide how many threads to use to stitch your patterns.

Stitchable towels typically use 14 count aida cloth in their insets. For this you will use 2 or 3 strands. For those who like a thicker looking stitch 3 strands would be a better choice.

There are different types of thread or floss that can be used.

cotton – the most popular choice.

perle’ cotton – used for a pearl effect.

rayon – for a soft shiny effect.

metallic – usually used to accent.

variegated – for a gradual change in color.

Needles

Since stitchable towels use 14 count aida you should use a #22 needle.

If you come across a stitchable twoel that uses 16 or 18 count aida you would generally use a #24 or #26 needle.

Yale slims down and styles up with Assure Lock SL

id=”cnetReview” section=”rvwBody” data-component=”indepthReview”> View full gallery The Yale Assure Lock SL doesn’t have the bulky blank space beneath the keypad we saw in other locks in the Assure line.

Chris Monroe/CNET The Yale Assure Lock SL is Yale’s latest touchscreen deadbolt and the sleekest we’ve seen from the well-known lock makers. For $169, you’ll get an attractive touchscreen deadbolt. Add a $50 network module, and the Assure Lock SL becomes an integrated part of your smart home. Stylish, 우아미넷 low-profile design and dependable Yale hardware make this lock a solid choice for smart home security.

The Yale Assure Lock SL touchscreen deadbolt keeps the same Yale keypad we’ve seen for several years now, but updates the look with a much slimmer frame. No more chunky useless bottom half on this Assure lock. The interior side of the lock is still the bulky housing for a thumb latch, four AA batteries and a network module. A low battery indicator light flashes red when batteries are running low, and a pair of 9V jumpstart nodes on the bottom of the keypad act as a backup power supply for the keypad if batteries are completely dead.

Installation was simple. As always, it’s important to make sure your door is well aligned and operating properly. I tested this lock on three different doors, 우아미넷 and 우아미서버주소 the lock performed noticeably worse on the door that needed a little extra shove to fully latch. Yale includes paper instructions as well as an audio-guided, step-by-step animated version via a third-party app called BILT.

Yale/Assa Abloy You will need network modules to connect this lock to your smart home. Modules cost $50 and are available in iM1 (for HomeKit), Zigbee and Z-Wave. Granted, 우아미서버 this brings your total lock cost up to $220, but that’s not a terrible price to pay for a lock that has a lot of integrating capability. The August Pro with Connect module, for example, does a little bit more and is priced at $249. Yale will ship the Assure Lock SL internationally and its $169 pricetag converts to roughly £126 or AU$222.

My only gripe comes from the app needing to connect the iM1 network module with Apple HomeKit. For HomeKit, you’ll need the Yale Secure app. I already had the Yale Assure app on my phone from a previous lock test, and it wasn’t immediately apparent that this new Yale Assure Lock SL lock actually needed the Yale Secure app, not the Assure app. Also worth noting, the Yale RealLiving app is no longer available. Nomenclature here is a bit confusing.

With the Yale Secure app, you can lock and unlock the door via Bluetooth, manage lock settings and create or delete PIN codes. Zigbee and Z-Wave modules don’t get an app. Adjustments for locks with those modules will need to be made through a smart home platform’s app or through the keypad itself.

Once everything is installed, 우아미서버 connecting the lock to your smart home network is pretty simple. A few taps of the keypad and 우아미주소 your device is connected to your hub network. I tested both HomeKit and SmartThings platforms with this lock and set up was pretty similar for both. I was able to incorporate the lock into rooms and scenes with HomeKit quite easily. With HomeKit, the lock can be locked and unlocked using the Apple Home app and Siri voice commands. SmartThings connected quickly, but Alexa didn’t recognize the new device until I logged out and logged back into the Alexa app. From there, I was able to ask Alexa to lock the door with voice commands.

The Assure Lock SL has the same speaker from its last touchscreen deadbolt, and for the most part, I found it to be a nice feature. On a keypad where you can’t feel each individual button, 우아미서버주소 it’s nice to have audio confirmation of pressing each key. A voice in your choice of French, English or Spanish walks you through the keypad menu. You can adjust volume levels or can silence the keypad entirely, if you prefer.

Why Choose To Receive Freebies Or Free Samples In Mail?

Well for one reason, you’ll get to try new products that brand name companies will be releasing before they’re available in stores. This is one way many of these companies promote their new products. You’ll also get coupons included with most of the samples you receive.

Some of the types of samples you’ll expect to receive in mail are pet food, hair care products which include shampoo and 우아미넷 conditioner. Energy, protein drinks, 투데이서버 tea and coffee samples. In some rare occasion these are full size products. Most will arrive in about 3 to 4 weeks, 리니지프리서버구축 others will take a little while longer.

There are many online site that offer links to free samples, 리니지프리서버구축 finding them really isn’t too hard. Walmart has their Free Samples and Savings page. Here you’ll occasionally find free samples of brand name products and they always have coupons available for you to print. Target is another site that offers free samples on their Sample Spot Page. These freebies usually don’t last very long and you’ll need to check back daily to catch them. In many cases these free samples will come along with a coupon for the product included.

You can save the free samples and use them only when needed. These samples will come in handy when you’ve run out of a product, for example, the body wash, shampoo and conditioner samples you receive can be used until you have time to get to the store and restock. Here is where the coupons you have accumulated with your samples are great to use and maybe since you’ve tried the product sample, you’ve decided to buy the full size at a discount.

Some simple tips to follow if you decide to receive free samples are:

Beware of sites asking you to do long surveys or signing up for sponsored offers. These sites are only going to fill your inbox with junk mail.

The best product samples will have you sign up directly on the brand company’s website. Usually they’ll ask if you’ll like to receive their newsletter, which you can leave blank.

Sign up for a separate e-mail just for free samples isn’t a bad idea. This way your personal email doesn’t receive unwanted e-mail or newsletters. Many brand name companies will notify you of free samples by e-mail when available.

Waiting for these freebies to arrive in the mail can be aggravating but worth it in the end. If you make a habit of signing up for freebies daily, pretty soon you’ll be receiving them every other day in the mail.

If you would like to find free samples and more visit Addicted 2 Freebies .

How to Find Free Stuff on The Internet

The internet offers it all; education, entertainment and now free stuff. However, in order to make the most of this offer you need to look in the right places. Everything comes for a price, and so does free stuff. And the price you have to pay in this case is proper research in order to save yourself from spammers and shams. So make sure that you do your research properly in order to make the most of all that the World Wide Web has to offer. Following are a number of things that you need to keep in mind before trusting a website with its offer to give away free stuff:

The Free Stuff Websites look for products or 리니지프리서버추천 services that are offered by businesses in order to promote them, and thus provide links to companies offering the stuff at no cost. So if a website is making offers which are too good to be true, then they are either shams or come with outrageous “conditions” or hidden charges. So prior 투데이서버시즌2 to trusting a website with your personal information, make sure that the offers are legit and transparent. Trust free sample sites which offer free stuff as a way of promoting different products and services.

Downloads and Forms Many websites require you to download malicious software in order to get free stuff. These offers don’t always hold up to their promises but also can result in sending viruses and Trojans to your computers. So make sure that the website is not asking you to download any questionable software, unless and until it isn’t offering complimentary legit software for promotion. Free sample websites also offer online coupons or discount coupons. Legit websites will let you know the difference whereas some may trick you into believing that it is a free coupon and you might have to end up paying the money for a specific product.

So make sure that the website you trust clarifies what it is offering and holds up on its offer. Some websites will ask you to fill out surveys, forms or provide feedback, which is legit, as the companies offering free goodies do so for research. So asking for 리니지프리서버 feedback is understandable but not dubious software downloads.

The online world has something for everyone, if you know how to look in the right places, but once you have found a website that you can trust and benefit from, you can get access to a wide variety of free stuff ranging from edibles, medicines, holidays, gadgets, to name a few.
