Stay away from Melbourne: NSW issues coronavirus warning to travellers

Australians have been warned to avoid travelling to Melbourne as Victoria continues to suffer an unexpected spike in COVID-19 cases.

Victoria recorded another 16 new cases on Monday, prompting the New South Wales government to warn against all travel to parts of the state.

Over the weekend, 44 new cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in the state, after Australia enjoyed weeks of single digit transmissions. 

Officials have since said residents should avoid all travel to affected areas in Victoria – and said even metropolitan Melbourne was high risk. 

NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian said the spike was ‘a wake up call for all of us’. 

‘At this stage, the advice is do not travel to those hot spots,’ she told reporters on Monday.

‘Do not go to the hot spots. Reconsider your plans. Reconsider what you’re doing.

‘But certainly, Melbourne is a discretion. We would recommend people not at this stage travel to Melbourne unless they have to. 

‘The strong recommendation from the New South Wales Government, including our health officials is – do not travel to those hot spots at all. And consider your travel to Melbourne at this stage.’

Victoria and NSW are the only two states not to bring in any border restrictions during the pandemic, with this new outbreak threatening others opening up. 

The border between the two states will not be closed at this stage, Ms Berejiklian confirmed. 

The areas with a known spike in cases are Hume, Caseyand Brimbank, Moreland, Cardinia and Darebin, but the public are being urged to be cautious across the state.

Testing done on Monday showed 16 new cases of coronavirus in Victoria, 부천출장안마 including a toddler. 

‘NSW Health strongly discourages travel to and from areas of Victoria with COVID-19 outbreaks until control of community transmission has been confirmed,’ it said in a statement on Monday morning.

‘There are also locally acquired cases of COVID-19 reported from other areas of metropolitan Melbourne.

‘So we urge anyone who is planning to visit Victoria to keep up to date with NSW Health and Victorian Health travel advisories.’

Victoria has been planning on easing several restrictions on Monday, but this was stopped due to the sudden spike in cases. 

Health Minister Jenny Mikakos confirmed there were 1,847 cases in the state after five were removed due to duplication, making it a net increase of 11 cases on Monday.

The state’s COVID-19 case numbers are now the highest they’ve been in more than two months after six days of double-digit growth.

‘We currently have nine patients in hospital, including two in intensive care,’ Ms Mikakos confirmed. 

The new cases are made up of six linked to outbreaks, five cases identified through routine testing, four cases detected in returned travellers in hotel quarantine and one case under investigation.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison echoed Ms Berejiklian’s comments, saying the spike was a ‘wake-up call’.  

‘Australia has fared incredibly well compared to the rest of the world,’ he said on Monday.

‘But that cannot be cause for complacency. COVID hasn’t gone anywhere. 

‘It’s still out there. And it can still take hold. And so, we can’t be complacent about it, and we certainly aren’t, as governments all around the country.’ 

The Stamford Plaza hotel outbreak has increased to 14 with two contractors also testing positive.

Two cases have been linked to Albanvale Primary School in Caroline Springs, taking that outbreak to three, with two teachers infected.

A further two cases have been linked to H&M Northland, taking the total to four.

One new case is a household contact of a staff member who tested positive on Friday, the other new case is a worker who did not work at the store while infectious, although did attended the Black Lives Matter protest in Melbourne on June 6.

It is not thought they acquired the infection from the protest.

The H&M store has undergone a deep clean and contact tracing is continuing.

A child who goes to Great Beginnings Reservoir went to the childcare centre while infectious, so it has been closed for cleaning and contact tracing. 

Australia’s chief health authority, the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC), issued a statement on Sunday to discourage any travel to the areas until the spread had been controlled.

‘It is critical that we are able to continue to control transmission,’ the committee said.   

There were 116 cases reported in Victoria last week, making up 83 per cent of all new infections, the committee said.

Time is money: the armchair traders of lockdown

STOCKHOLM, June 19 (Reuters) – At 7am on Friday morning, Dean d’Arco, 31, a phone shop manager from Belfast, Northern Ireland, logged on for his last day as a round-the-clock armchair stock market trader.

During almost three months on coronavirus furlough, he was one of a swelling number of stuck-at-home punters using their free time to ride a climbing stock market which rebounded after a giant slump in March.

As lockdown lifts, d’Arco is now returning to work, but he doesn’t plan on giving up his new-found interest in financial markets entirely.

“It’s given me a routine, a reason to get out of bed in the morning,” d’Arco said of his time on furlough, adding that his new hobby was also a welcome social activity.

Along with his friend Damian McVeigh, 31, the pair put in 70-plus hours a week on trading apps, staking a substantial part of their savings in the process, despite neither having prior experience in financial markets.

“I only play with savings I can afford to lose and I’ve made a good return and have no regrets,” McVeigh, who is a quantity-surveyor by trade, said.

Around the world, online retail brokers are booming this year, with global app eToro increasing new account openings by 400%, compared to the same period last year.

EToro customers invested $300 billion in Q1, part of a global surge in activity on retail trading platforms which played a role in the recent stock market rally.

“We began to see record levels of activity when the coronavirus pandemic started,” said Johanna Kull, an economist for Swedish trading app Avanza.

“Stock market gains have mostly been led by government and central bank stimulus, but increased retail trading activity has pushed up prices and caused volatility in specific small cap stocks,” she said.

McVeigh said he has invested around 5000 pounds ($6,300) and made a 20% profit by trading around 80 companies and commodities such as oil.

A WhatsApp messenger group chat set up to plan a now-cancelled holiday became an active stock market discussion forum when McVeigh started talking about the plight of his ex-employer, a listed company he had staff shares in.

“FEELS LIKE BETTING”

Fuelled by the stimulus packages, trading indexes have rallied hard since lows in March, with the Nasdaq last week briefly beating the 10,000 mark for the first time.

Two weeks ago, a flurry of activity was seen in bankrupt or soon-to-be-bankrupt stocks with Hertz, Chesapeake , Whiting and JC Penney rising 300% to 500% before pulling back a bit, leaving seasoned traders scratching their heads.

“It feels like betting when it comes to struggling companies,” said McVeigh, who bought shares in Valaris, a company which he doesn’t expect to survive but still made him a profit.

The pair say that in general, though, buying stocks feels different to gambling because it is not a win-or-lose proposition like betting on the outcome of a football match.

More recently, anxiety about a second wave of coronavirus infections has hit markets, with the S&P 500 last week suffering its worst weekly decline since March 20.

“I didn’t get too badly caught by the big dip. I took most of my capital out when some stocks rose beyond their pre-pandemic level, as that just felt unnatural to me,” said McVeigh, adding he wished he’d taken out all his funds.

Both men said it will be impossible to trade as intensely when they return to work, so they plan to change their trading strategy to focus on long-term stocks.

“The way things are now, if you take your eyes off it for a moment you can lose serious cash,” McVeigh said, adding: “But I won’t stop, I enjoy it too much.”

D’Arco said he plans to buy into innovative tech companies, ones he calls “future game changers”.

McVeigh, the more pragmatic of pair, said: “I expect there to be a crash soon. I plan on picking up undervalued stocks when that happens and hold them for long-term gain.”

Again, be levelheaded. Tell your story, give updates about the complaint you have filed and do not use profanity or other bitter language. Think of yourself as a reporter: you are only giving the facts of the case as they unfold. Link to new reviews, link to other people’s reviews. Ask other customers for their opinions and feedback. Whatever you can do to generate content. You can even ask for submissions from other wronged customers.

Update frequently. Link to the company’s actual website, facebook profile, etc as much as you can. Get their attention. When writing, use the name of the business and responsible parties as much as possible so a google search for that company will pick up your site. You want their attention! Make sure and stress that the business is welcome to contact you at any time to make it right. Update your G+, Twitter and other social profiles every time you update the website/ blog. Make it clear that the business can contact you to make this right at any time.

As a precaution, be sure and add a disclaimer to the blog. “I am not a representative for Acme Widget Company, I am not affiliated with Acme Widgets, I am simply telling the story of how Acme Widgets ripped me off.” Make sure you do the same for social accounts. great read. I was just ripped of by an online company. I ordered one thing, they did not send it, they sent some knock off in its place, and then refused to issue an RMA. The person answering the phones stonewalled me in speaking to the boss, said she has”the power of the boss” ect.. I told her I either get an RMA due to a Truth In Advertising scam, OR I will be filing on the company for deceptive marketing practices. She then replied “Go ahead and file you are never getting your money back”.

So I filed, FTC, BBB, and The Oregon DOJ.

I then told her to stop communicating with me unless she was going to issue an RMA, these agencies are now acting on my behalf concerning the complaints. She bombarded my email address with all this crap trying to prove her side. I emailed her back 3 times telling her to stop emailing me. Finally I told her I would file on her for harassment as well if she kept it up.

I will be filing another report tomorrow with my DOJ in my state, and submitted proofs of the deceptive marketing. If all this fails, its off the small claims for us. 2K sale.

This lady was so brazen, so completely confident in her ability to bamboozle it made me want to just bring her down. I will do all I can to make life so difficult for her her life is smashed to bits.

Remember, if a company ripped you off they have no respect for you and thought of you as a chump.

Giving them a chance is NOT an option. If the want to refund your money then fine, but still destroy their reputation to teach them a lesson. (they ripped you off and didn’t care, 퍼스트카지노 so now why should you?)

The company agreed to a settlement. They mailed a check a week later then put a stopped payment in the check after I signed and notarized the settlement agreement. Police footage shows officers try to tase unarmed Ahmaud Arbery

New police bodycam footage shows officers in Georgia trying to use a taser on Ahmaud Arbery while his hands were up and he was unarmed in 2017. 

Lawyers for Arbery’s family said the video suggests that the 25-year-old underwent harassment from Glynn County authorities. 

Three years before Arbery, 25, was shot dead by a white former cop and his son while jogging in February, he had a tense encounter with police officers in Glynn County, Georgia.   

In November 2017, Officer Micheal Kanago reportedly approached Arbery after he suspected him of using marijuana and questioned why he was sitting alone in his car.

Footage obtained by The Guardian shows Kanago questioning Arbery, 리니지프리서버하는법 who explained that he was relaxing inside his vehicle and rapping over instrumental beats.

‘You want to know why I’m f****** with you?’ Kanago asks, before instructing Arbery to remove his hands from his pocket.

Kanago later claimed to have felt threatened by Arbery and later wrote that ‘veins were popping from [Arbery’s] chest, which made me feel that he was becoming enraged and may turn physically violent towards me.’

At the time, Kanago requested help from an additional officer.   

‘You’re bothering me for nothing,’ Arbery says to Kanago in bodycam footage.

David Haney, the second officer at the scene, arrives minutes later and yells at Arbery to remove his hands from his pockets, which he did.

‘I get one day off a week…I’m up early in the morning trying to chill,’ Arbery told the officers.

‘I’m just so aggravated because I work hard, six days a week.’ 

Arbery is eventually released by the officers, but barred from driving his car because his license is expired.

Officers eventually let Arbey go, but he was not allowed to drive his car because of a suspended license.

Lawyers with Arbery’s family described the incident as ‘a situation where Ahmaud was harassed by Glynn county police officers.’

They told The Guardian that there was ‘no justifiable reason’ for Arbery to be confronted with a taser. 

Additionally, they suggested that the video is proof that Glynn County police have unfairly targeted Arbery in the past. 

‘This appears to be just a glimpse into the kind of scrutiny Ahmaud Arbery faced not only by this police department, but ultimately regular citizens like the McMichaels and their posse, pretending to be police officers,’ a statement read.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Arbery was placed on probation in 2013 for having a gun while at a high school basket ball game. 

He was later charged with shoplifting and violating his probation in 2018. Arbery’s family lawyer’s said those charges are unrelated to his death.  

In February, Arbery was killed by Travis McMichael, 34, and his 64-year-old father, Greg McMichael.

Defense lawyers for Gregory McMichael said last Friday that they have examined evidence that ‘tells a very different story’ about Arbery and the two men charged with killing him. Attorney Laura Hogue told reporters: ‘There is more than one video of the incident.’

She did not give any specifics. A roughly 40-second cellphone video of the shooting was leaked online last week, a day before the McMichaels were charged the felony murder and aggravated assault.

The video fueled a national outcry not just over the killing but also that more than two months passed before arrests were made.

Attorney Franklin Hogue, hired to defend Gregory McMichael along with his law partner wife, said more details would be revealed at a preliminary court hearing that he plans to request soon.

‘The truth will reveal this is not just another act of violent racism,’ Franklin Hogue told a news conference outside the couple’s Macon office. ‘Greg McMichael did not commit murder. Greg McMichael is not a party to the crime of murder.

Attorneys for Arbery’s parents have said security camera video from the same home construction site Feb. 23 shows Arbery on the property right before the shooting. They also say the footage shows Arbery committing no crimes.

‘There were frequently people on the construction site both day and night,’ attorneys for Arbery’s parents said in a statement Friday. ‘Ahmaud Arbery seems to be the only one who was presumed to be a criminal and ultimately the only one murdered based on that assumption.’

Travis called 911 to report a possible trespasser on English’s property the night of Feb. 11, less than two weeks before Arbery was shot. He described a ‘black male, red shirt and white shorts.’

‘When I turned around and saw him and backed up, he reached into his pocket and ran into the house,’ Travis told the 911 operator.

 ‘So I don´t know if he´s armed or not. But he looked like, he was acting like he was.’

The lawyer for Ahmaud Arbery’s family said the 25-year-old was chased for four minutes before being gunned down by a white father and son in February. 

According to attorney S. Lee Merritt, the initial video that was leaked by Brunswick attorney Alan Tucker and revealed Arbery’s last moments on February 23 is much longer. 

Merritt confirmed to Fox News on Monday that the new video shows William Bryan, who recorded the shooting, Gregory McMichael, 64, and his son Travis McMichael, 34, chasing Arbery for four minutes while he was jogging in the Satilla Shores neighborhood near Brunswick, Georgia. 

No other information has been released regarding the extended video, but Arbery’s family is expected to release a statement today.

Arbery was killed February 23 after the father and son trailed him in their white pick-up truck after he jogged past their yard. 

The elder McMichael told police he suspected Arbery was responsible for recent break-ins in the neighborhood. 

But local police have said there have been no break-ins in the area for the last couple of months. 

The attorney of the owner of the house under construction said she thinks Arbery was getting water. A man in similar clothes appeared in videos from the home at least twice, lawyer J. Elizabeth Graddy said. 

The homeowner, Larry English, lives hours away and set up motion-activated security cameras that send him a text when they start filming.

English called the Glynn County Police after one notification on December 17. 

No one was arrested, but a detective sent English a text message three days later giving him Gregory McMichael’s phone number and identifying him as a retired law enforcement officer, adding ‘he said please call him day or night when you get action on your camera,’ according to the December 20 text shared by Graddy.

English never read the text until Graddy’s firm started reviewing his phone days ago.

‘He never called Gregory McMichael. He never took him up on that offer,’ Graddy said.

The video fueled a national outcry not just over the killing but also that more than two months passed before arrests were made. 

Hundreds of people came to the Glynn County courthouse demanding accountability on Saturday. 

Arbery’s family ended the rally thanking the crowd for their support and saying ‘we are all running for Ahmaud’.

The crowd then marched away from the courthouse, taking a knee in silence and blocking traffic for more than 60 seconds to symbolize the days it took for arrests in the case.

Then they chanted: ‘When black lives are under attack, what do we do? Stand up, fight back.’

The McMichaels have been jailed on murder charges since May 7. 

Merritt took to Twitter on Saturday to share that local police had given a property owner the retired officer’s number in December to report when people were on his property. 

‘Police told the homeowner where #AhmaudArbery was last seen to contact Greg McMichael if his cameras caught someone on his property,’ he said in the Saturday tweet.

Each of these angels were created by different artist. You can use the vintage way of doing this by using starch or sugar water. There are improved products at the craft stores.
